Our History

The groundwork for what Lok Shikshan Mandal today was laid in 1960, when our Founder President Shri Sobhagmal ji Daga with a few like-minded people came together for a common cause a cause to educate underprivileged children in their neighbourhood.

 

Mr. Sobhagmalji Daga was born in 1921. He studied his primary and School education at the then Bhopal state.

 

While performing his business at Hinganghat (Wardha). He had experienced academic disparities and thirst for education which led him to shape this organisation Lok Shikshan Mandal (LSM). 

 

While working with local rural population he experienced the backwardness particularly in educational field. For want of schools local young generation was deprived of education. Village Wadner near Hinganghat town was his centre of agriculture activity. 

He had his commercial ancestral property which was given for education purpose and one school in the remote area took shape.

 

The Organisation started with 32 students, some of whom were working in agriculture, some who had dropped out and the rest who had never been to school.

 

The overwhelming progress shown by our students gave us confidence that the project was heading in the right direction. In 1962, this informal project was officially registered as a non-profit trust under the name of Lok Shikshan Mandal with the following objectives: 

 

To stress the importance of education to children and families and to be facilitators in ensuring that every child attends school.

To provide holistic learning to the underprivileged in order to maximize their potential.

To instill confidence and self-esteem through exposure to art, sports, cultural and other activities.

To be a stepping-stone for young & adults towards a better employment and a better quality of life by finding midway between latest technology and conventional agricultural practices.

To educate underprivileged society to maintain health of their families and society.  

 

Over the years we have grown to meet the needs of low-income communities. Today we reach out to over 1500 beneficiaries. All our programmes are directed towards providing access to quality education and opportunities enabling a brighter future for our beneficiaries.
